Diagonal Dishcloth Pattern
This is a dishcloth pattern that looks quite similar to a traditional diagonal dishcloth pattern. However, instead of using yarn overs to increase, this pattern uses an increase that does not put holes in the edges of the dishcloth. This pattern could be easily modified to be a blanket.
Pattern
Cast on 4 sts.
Row 1: k2, inc, knit to end of row.
Repeat row 1 until 44 sts are on the needle.
Row 2: k2, ssk, knit to end of row.
Repeat Row 2 until 4 sts remain.
Bind off.
Note: Increases are worked by knitting into the front and the back of the next stitch.
(A video will be coming soon to demonstrate this)
I would like to know how i could knit this as a place mat... thanks
ReplyDeleteIncreasing the number of stitches on the needles before beginning row 2 will make a larger square.
DeleteA rectangle could be made by making a large square and several smaller ones and sewing them together into a rectangle.
to make this a rectangle, increase until the edges as wide as you want your place mat. Mark one side to be identifiable (green marker for example) as an increase side. Increase on this side ONLY. When you turn your work, mark this side to be easily identifiable as a decrease (eg red marker), and decrease (k2tog).
DeleteThis should then start making the long sides. When these are as long as you want, decrease both sides as per the pattern.
